Independence Day in Rwanda

Presidential Order N° 062/01 lists 1 July as Independence Day among Rwanda’s public holidays. The order applies a weekend rule: when a public holiday falls on a weekend, the following working day becomes a public holiday, with an exception for 7 April, the Genocide against the Tutsi Memorial Day.[1]
Rwanda’s Labour Law gives employees the right to an official public holiday with full salary. If an employee works on the holiday, the law entitles them to an equivalent rest day within the following 30 days.[2]
