The Cayman Islands Government page does not identify separate Boxing Day customs for Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac or Little Cayman, or specify customary foods or a distinct Caymanian origin for the holiday. Boxing Day follows Christmas and is associated with leisure and community activities.[1]
Work and practical planning
The Labour Act sets out pay entitlements for employees covered by the Act. An employee who does not work on a public holiday is entitled to their usual basic wage for that day if they worked their scheduled workday immediately before and after it. An employee who works on a public holiday is generally entitled to double their normal rate for the hours worked, subject to the Act’s terms and exceptions.[3]
