Work can continue in activities that cannot be interrupted, including medical and hospital services, water, energy and fuel supply, transport, hotels and catering, and several public safety and infrastructure services. Why February 3 is remembered
The date is associated with Eduardo Chivambo Mondlane, the first president of the Mozambique Liberation Front, known as FRELIMO. Mozambique’s government identifies February 3 as a day in his honor.[2]
In an official address, the President said that after independence the state dedicated February 3 to Mondlane and to all Mozambican heroes. The address describes the commemoration as a tribute to people who contributed to building the country and to those who died fighting for independence, sovereignty and democratic rule.[3]

A documented central ceremony in Maputo took place at the Monument to Mozambican Heroes and began with the laying of a wreath. The President’s message at the ceremony described the day as honoring those who sacrificed themselves in the struggle for national independence and the freedom of the Mozambican people.[4]
