The Bank Holidays Act, first enacted in 1875 and later amended, names Whit Monday in its schedule. In Grenada, Whit Monday follows Whitsunday, or Pentecost. The holiday is tied to the Christian observance of Pentecost, which commemorates the Holy Spirit’s descent upon the apostles. Pentecost marks the close of the Easter season in Catholic Church teaching.[3][5]

The Cabinet Office’s calendar lists Whit Monday separately from Easter Monday and Corpus Christi, two other holidays in Grenada’s calendar. Whit Monday is a Christian holiday with legal status in Grenada.[1][2][3]

The Grenada Consulate General in Miami describes Whit Monday as a public holiday and says banks and most shops are closed. The Bank Holidays Act confirms the holiday status of banks and public offices.
